Mark is proud of his roots in Cayman. He has lived his entire life in Bodden Town, attending Savannah Primary School and Cayman Islands High School. He earned a degree in civil engineering and Certificate of Supervisory Management before serving 15 years as an engineer in the Public Works Department (PWD). He spent the final seven years as head of the Roads Division (now National Roads Authority), and played an integral role in the creation of the NRA.
Since his departure from the Civil Service, Mark has run his own small engineering consulting firm and is also the managing director of a Road Construction company. Mark is a leader with an eye toward the future.
Under his leadership, the PWD made many significant accomplishments, restructuring of the section, improving road design and construction standards and creating a unit to address long-range transportation planning. Mark personally planned and implemented several major projects, including Esterley Tibbetts Highway, Linford Pierson Highway.
His knowledge and expertise is regularly sought for Government and private sector committees and boards, and he has served on National Roads Plan Steering Committee, Storm water Management committee (co-chairman), Bodden Town Development Plan Review committee (deputy chairman).
Mark has devoted his life to serving the Cayman Community . Mark is very passionate about community empowerment and strives to improve the lives of young people.
He has served in various capacities with the Cayman Islands Football Association for the past eighteen years and is currently chairman of the youth committee, responsible for organizing competitions for more than 600 youth. For more than 10 years, he has organized an annual summer football camp in Bodden Town. As president and a twenty-year member of Bodden Town Football Club, he has helped several young men earn athletic scholarships.
Mark led efforts over the past two elections to register more than 600 new voters. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce National Mentoring taskforce and has been the president of Savannah Primary School Parent Teachers Association for four years, volunteering his time to improve of the experience for more than 270 students.
